Union Market North

"Getting the building ready for permanent power and switching off temporary is a huge milestone on any project that involves massive amounts of coordination and teamwork not only internally but with many outside stakeholders as well. We could not have done this without the help of each and every PDI foreman, electrician, and apprentice on the Union Market North project, but credit also needs to be given to the JMA team for making this a priority for the job as a whole and not just PDI. JMA was instrumental in getting all the equipment on-site early and communicating with PEPCO for all steps that lead up to energizing the building. The permanent power milestone is an overwhelming task, and like any monstrous goal, it needs to be taken one step at a time. Consistency, day in and day out, while keeping your eyes on the bigger picture regardless of hiccups and setbacks, is the only way to successfully reach this goal. The best advice I can give is to truly understand the “why” behind the importance of this milestone and convey that to everyone who wants to see a project turnover on time. From the Superintendents down to the production crews, when we all understand the goal and its purpose, nothing can stop the pieces from coming together beautifully. With this “Trade Mark” goal complete, we are not only one step closer to a successful completion, but we leave a legacy in the Union Market area of Washington, DC that will stand the test of time for years to come." - Adam Suhr, Project Manager
